Nokeitha Outram, our eight year-old from Montego Bay, has been receiving home peritoneal dialysis (dialysis through fluid in the belly) since Easter. Her mother was trained how to operate the cycler and is now very competent at the process. Mom and Nokeitha are followed monthly at UHWI by Dr. Marsha Gooden – Paediatric Nephrologist with dialysis expertise, and in between by the paediatric team at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.

Nokeitha will go to school in the daytime and three nights per week she will be put on the machine overnight for treatment. The next morning she returns to school so there are no lost days.
