As part of our newly launched family support group, JKKF will be hosting a fund day at the newly renovated Hope Zoo in Kingston for children on dialysis. We encourage all families whose children have kidney disease to come out and enjoy the day with us.
In honour of Kidney Week, JKKF presents an exhibition with the purpose of raising public awareness and information on kidney disease in children. Enthusiastic representatives will be present to distribute helpful information about kidney health and the impact of chronic kidney disease. A very special ‘kidney kid’, Halli will also be on site to share her experience. Please come out and support the cause.
Geared towards rural paediatricians who are taking care of children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) outside of Kingston, Jamaica. The goal of the workshop is to train them to recognize CKD and to manage the children with CKD in between their visits to Kingston as many cannot afford to visit the capital as often as needed. JKKF in collaboration with the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA) present the 1st Jamaican Paediatric Nephrology Conference. Guest speakers include: Paediatric Nephrologists from Toronto, Canada – Dr. Rulan Parek and from Iowa, USA- Dr. Pat Brophy along with local faculty members. Come and learn more about paediatric kidney diseases well as how to recognize and treat common kidney problems.
